a failed lift

for J. Meriadoc

after pulling on a deadlift
quads buldging
lungs shooting dust out--
even vocal chords recruited
into this lift--
MJ drops the weight
jumps away from it
like a cat jumping out
of a litter box after
pooping.

he's depressed he didn't
do four plates

RMC's best poems of 2008

Cat, Poem, and Notes (print version from litchaos.com found here) is the most popular piece of mine, followed by We Should All be Cynics, according to a poll on For Monks Only.

Four other pieces tied for 3rd place -- see all results by scrolling to the bottom of the page.

One announcement regarding litchaos.com:
I am thinking about using color art in the next issue if we can control the printing prices a bit. So artists, send us your work. See the litchaos.com site for more details. Writers, keep that fiction and poetry coming.

A-Riv

Check out poet Andy Riverbed reading translations of my poetry (Spanish and English). Also, don't forget to click the newest issue of litchaos.com where you'll find an interview with  Andy that explains such mysteries as to why Andy was once called 1910.

You can pre-order Damaged, Riverbed's book, at the Coatlism Bookstore. It's due out January 1st, 2009 but we hope they'll be available earlier than that. They make a great xmas present!

Cat, Poem, and Notes

Somehow I forgot to plug my own poem on my own website, litchaos.com. Anyway, it's is still there to be enjoyed, so check it out!

It's a poem and notes to a poem. It's my version of Pale Fire by Vladamir Nabokov.
